A cross stitched D&D themed band sampler designed to look like an 'ugly christmas sweater' with rows of potions, weapons, dice, chests, and of course dragons.
I know it's not even November, but if you want to stitch this holiday band sampler for the holidays this year, it's probably best to start soon. ๐ Took me like 35 hours, at any rate.
I'd like to do another nerdy band sampler like this one day. But what theme? ๐ค

Work in progress cross stitch of white snowflake shapes on gingerbread aida.
Another freebie coming out this weekend. This time I'm trying out a shape I've seen around the internet but never made myself.
I did forget how annoying french knots can be though. Next time? Beads. ๐

Somewhat grainy footage of the process of finishing a flat-fold cross stitch ornament
The finished Poe-themed cross stitch flat fold, taken with a much better camera.
The no-glue Flatfold Tutorial should be up on YouTube now! Assuming I got my timezones right ๐
The video quality is meh, but the info is all there and hopefully still useful! Maybe I'll refilm it next time I make one. But I'm not going to unmake this one just for that, sooo. ๐คฃ youtu.be/LZQyXwDifD8

An arrangement of various styles of cross stitch ornaments.
This month's article is about Holiday gifting -- What to stitch for your loved ones this holiday season?
My favorite type of gift is ornaments! There's so many different styles, are relatively small, and no one has to feel bad for storing them away in the off season ๐

The backside of a cross stitched hourglass
A cross stitch design of a hourglass with a sandy shore with high waves slowly draining through the hands of a silhouette on another sandy shore. Next to it, the Edgar Allan Poe quote "All that we see or seem Is but a dream within a dream"
Back look a bit different than the front? That's because this was done on printed aida. So while the front is a cool stormy gray, the back is just white!
It's a lil weird working with printed aida, I kinda get jump scare when I flip it over to tuck in my ends, lol. ๐

The same Poe Hourglass design, but without the sky stitched in allowing the fabric to shine through.
Been a while since I did a flatfold. So naturally I had to make a new one! Plus this'll fit in great with my library decor. ๐ฅฐ

Bad news: It's kinda terrible picture quality and I can't re-film it. ๐

A palette of cross stitch / embroidery threads. Both DMC and Cosmo brand floss in a range of browns and blues.
A bit more muted of a color palette than I usually work with! All browns and blues. Not the most exciting palette, but I'm hoping it'll make for a really nice cohesive design.
What kinda visuals do you get from these colors?

I learned to knit October last year. And made exactly two hats.
...I've made nothing since. So despite minimal experience, I decided I was an expert already and I should try something new entirely and learn brioche. ๐ I've only had to frog and restart twice! And I learned how to add lifelines lmao.

The back side of a cross stitch design of a skull planter stitched on bright blue aida.
Today, the backside of my lost druid. While I wanted those scattered stars and leaves above, I also tried to keep them close enough together to be able to stitch the black outline in one single path without having to jump long distances.
I did have to stop and start again for the stars though. ๐

But then I know others enjoy large pieces they can work on all season.
Which do you prefer?

A full crochet lap-sized star blanket in a variety of pastel colors, but mostly pink blue and white.
