Sooo much of Jayce’s impulsive decision-making and emotional life makes sense if you understand that for him, Everything Is An Emergency. He is so swamped by his emotions that everything registers as an emergency that requires an immediate fix, ideally within the next 30 minutes. He is so overwhelmed by other people’s emotions that it’s an emergency. He wants to help and protect the people he loves so badly that he is completely overwhelmed and reckless and panicking, with the narrow range of vision panic brings. He means so well but he is never, never calm inside. My mental image of Jayce responding to anything is the shot of him racing down the hall with Viktor in his arms. I think everything feels like that to him, always.
