i miss you. He doesn’t expect an answer straight away. Surely Jayce is in the middle of a set, hyper-focused and diligent. It takes thirty seconds for the three dots to show up. Another five for the message to deliver. miss you too. Viktor smiles. A second message comes through. i swear i’m going super fast for u. nearly done with squats! Viktor imagines the very intimately familiar shape of two ass cheeks bulging against offensively tight shorts. send a pic. It takes a moment longer for a reply now. Nearly a minute before the picture loads from pixelated to sharp details. It’s a squat rack, holding a barbell at shoulder height, stacked with what Viktor has to assume is an impressive amount and size of bumper plates. The only thing making the image not look like a stock photo is the tip of Jayce’s worn out sneakers peeking in at the bottom of the screen. Viktor rolls his eyes. thx, obv thats what i wanted a picture of.

Jayce reacts with a laughing emoji to the message and keeps Viktor waiting for a whole two minutes before a second picture comes in. It’s a selfie, in the most literal sense. Jayce’s workout flushed and sweaty face, damp strands of hair sticking to his forehead and tooth gap glinting through a charming little grin. Jayce might just be the first and only man to ever send a gym pic that cuts off his entire body. There is barely a glimpse of his neck visible in this perfectly adorable, completely innocent portrait. Viktor could forward this to Ximena and it would be framed and hanging on a wall within a day. Viktor snorts a laugh. Either Jayce is fucking with him or it genuinely doesn’t occur to him that Viktor is asking for something a little spicier. A visual snack, a little treat of pixels to tide Viktor over. It is entirely possible that Jayce is unfamiliar with the concept of sending thirst traps to your partner as a more straightforward form of flirting. He might just prefer it the old school way. Viktor wouldn’t say no to multiple pages of handwritten love letters and a sepia portrait to keep in a locket. Maybe a lock of hair, too. And, truthfully, it would be a lie to pretend like Viktor really needs more than the image of Jayce’s face to get all warm and tingly inside, anyways. Just imagining it is enough most days. Love is an amazingly potent drug. Viktor heart-reacts to the image. Then, he wiggles out of the blanket and onto his back. Obviously Jayce still deserves a visual response.
