Screenshot of Doom. The automap is open, but you can still see the game world behind it. The status bar is also transparent. To the left of the status bar are icons displaying the current state of powerups, and to the right is the current completion stats and level time.
If you're playing BTSX or a small handful of other mapsets, different status bar gfx will automatically load.
SevHUD supports Freedoom.
SevHUD also supports Adventures of Square. This screenshot shows off the HP bar, available in all games (but disabled by default).
I have created a transparent status bar replacement for UZDoom. Even the automap is transparent! It works with Doom, Freedoom, Chex Quest, and Adventures of Square.
If you are playing a supported Doom mapset, different status bar gfx will automatically load, like for BTSX.
