You’re taking that comment as me making an excuse?

What’s hilarious is that I’m willing to bet no one is more annoyed by these things and wants these people to shut up more than Caitlin Clark.

There was literally a tactic called β€œThe Jordan Rules”, which was based on physically challenging him and essentially beating him up. People are ridiculous.

Curious what folks think:
1) What qualifies one as an expert/when do you refer to yourself/others as one?
2) What qualifies one as a scholar/when do you refer to yourself/others as one?
3) What qualifies one as a philosopher/when do you refer to yourself/others as one? (Came up a lot in grad school)

Ex-football coach Derek Dooley to challenge Jon Ossoff for U.S. Senate in Georgia Former football coach Derek Dooley announced he is running for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in Georgia in a bid to unseat Democrat Jon Ossoff.

I’d say this is a continuation of the mediocre college football coach to extreme conservative politician pipeline, but calling Derek Dooley a mediocre coach would be too generous. May his political career be as successful as his coaching.

So with those cuts, that would mean the pharmaceutical companies are actually paying us a significant amount to take their drugs from them. Quite an accomplishment if so.

Likely nothing. The big advantage the House has is exclusive power to start all bills related to taxes and government spending, which could be leveraged, but with Jeffries or someone similarly inept, they wouldn’t use it to their advantage and would likely just prioritize funding wars and policing.

Actually, many did. Roger Sherman said people "should have as little to do as may be about the Government. They want information and are constantly liable to be misled."

But, many were also enslavers and/or did not think women or people without property should vote either, so they were also stupid.

Bringing this back since the Roberts Court keeps coming up today. I made a (non-exhaustive) list of some of the worst decisions,

And especially in this case, it’s racism.

Perhaps I’m alone on this, but I don’t think it’s helpful to label this β€œDEI” in any way shape or form. This is nepotism and incompetence. Call it what it is without using a label of something that has legitimate interest in access, inclusion, and equity for minoritized and marginalized populations.

The conservative approach to uprooting civil rights has long been a 2 step approach. While the 2nd gets the attention, the 1st enables the 2nd.

1) Define equality in ways that ignore past history/injustice and treats attempts of repair as attacks on equality.
2) Eliminate/dilute laws and policies.

This. Roberts' argument is that the 40 year old formula doesn't respond to current needs but in bad faith ignores that the reason why voter discrimination lessened is BECAUSE of the formula. He says the 15th amend is meant to ensure a better future but misuses it to strike down something doing that.

Do you have a paper related to social justice in education that you wrote/recommend? Post it or DM me so I can maybe include it in my social justice in ed course.

Part 1 is learning about and critiquing systems of ed.

Part 2 is utilizing a social action model to learn how to change a policy/law.

It’s not lost on me that institutions spent years practically begging people in underrepresented groups to take on often unpaid labor and lead committees, groups, and other initiatives related to identity only for those same institutions to now eliminate their work/jobs because they engage in β€œDEI”.

Once again, not to be a raging Infrostructurist, but these agreements with universities contain data-sharing arrangements that violate the Equal Protection Clause, a danger noted in this letter.

And when Orania was formed, they noted that not every Afrikaner would move/want to move there, but it meant something to know they had the option. What they’re trying here goes beyond just isolation. The aim is to normalize formal segregation and weaken civil rights laws to legally segregate.

The success of this request won’t matter. They’re setting up their plan:

1) Push the issue and create false narratives.
2) Get state laws rejecting same sex marriage then argue β€œstates rights”/ β€œfederal overreach”.
3) Openly defy, sue, and pursue favorable conservative courts and eventually SCOTUS.

What’s frustrating about schools conceding is they know it will hurt Black and Brown faculty/staff/students. Many have always viewed our mere presence as a threat and undeserving in advance. Each concession allows the Trump admin to determine there’s β€œtoo many” of us when there are already too few.

These higher education concessions aren't even reasonable acts of self-preservation because the demands won't end, and their institutions will continue to be targets. Each concession will lead to more demands, and what they try to save will eventually meet the same fate of that which they conceded.

Schools are often considered "elite" because of their endowment and the amount of funding they get. So, their main interest will always be maintaining their status and money above all else. But quality education exists all over, and students don't have to sacrifice their values/humanity to get it.

Working on a lecture, and one of my biggest annoyances is people equating being an abolitionist with being anti-racist or in favor of the equal rights for Black people. They aren’t the same, and many (arguably most) abolitionists still held racist views or didn’t believe in true racial equality.

I share "White Flight" with students when I want them to understand that people didn't reject public services (esp. education) because they were ineffective. They rejected them BECAUSE they were effective but benefitted all and not a select group. So, they formed private options to limit benefits.

Ms. Rachel, the children's content creator, has taken more action and has been more outspoken about Gaza than almost any U.S. political leader. That tells you all you need to know about how spineless those who represent us are, and for their cowardice, they deserve to be primaried and voted out.

I’ve experienced so many racist moments as a law student and Dean of Students that I can’t even count. But a different moment that stands out to me is having to explain to many law students how expensive it is to be poor, how difficult it can be to obtain an ID, and how racist voter ID laws can be.
