I can feel the petulance in the written out faq of some corpo shill who got yelled at.

Good perspective for artists too. I’m not even sure how I’d go about trying to be remarkable in the current context of the comics industry. It is a relief in many ways that to know that nobody is watching to see if I do something cool.

Sorry to delete my post, but the person who was doxxed by the sticker manu wants to not stir up anymore drama than necessary and is taking as many legal steps they can to address this person to hopefully get their information removed from their posts.

I’m hoping the artist who’s info i found responds to my message but i know it’s late and i am full of anxiety for people potentially getting their information shared by a sticker manu of all places <__>

if costs aren't a huge concern. I'd also see if you can be sent a physical sample book to more accurately gauge what materials you'd want to use

Based on my experience, even when requesting a quote, you want a schematic as it will be very hard for a manu to quote you just based on a sketch or rough draft. You could ask the manu for a digital materials manual to get a catalogue on what materials they have on hand for you to make your mock up

I would probably consider at least a front and side view and more solid lines for the mock up. Manus usually need very clear and precise information to work with and even then there will probably still be revisions. I would recommend something like this: bsky.app/profile/digi...

More artists are vlogging their artists alley experiences. I support that hobby. It's neat!

However one thing that's become apparent is how many people aren't asking their neighboring artists if it's okay to film or even letting them know that they ARE filming.

That's an off-putting issue.

Honestly very glad that my only interaction with Xel ended with a free $60 umbrella and no real tangible comic hosting deal all those years ago.

recently my friend's comics professor told her that it's acceptable to use gen AI for script-writing but not for art, since a machine can't generate meaningful artistic work. meanwhile, my sister's screenwriting professor said that they can use gen AI for concept art and visualization, but that it won't be able to generate a script that's any good. and at my job, it seems like each department says that AI can be useful in every field except the one that they know best. It's only ever the jobs we're unfamiliar with that we assume can be replaced with automation. The more attuned we are with certain processes, crafts, and occupations, the more we realize that gen AI will never be able to provide a suitable replacement. The case for its existence relies on our ignorance of the work and skill required to do everything we don't.

On another note, as someone who helps manage a rather large artist alley server, there is some seriously heinous behavior out there and not everyone you meet will have your best interest at heart. Do not be fooled by people who glamorize the idea that you can become a bigshot if you listen to them.

Also not to mention the fact that you are leaving a paper trail that can be a double edged sword if, god forbid, you end up getting audited.
