Daily Express: "It's raving mad" front page - exclusive: "Anger as asylum seekers filmed partying at former RAF base"
There is so much messed up about this front page Express story today.
There's no suggestion or evidence ANY alcohol or drugs was consumed. This is literally just people dancing.
And buried in the piece: "The footage is believed to have been filmed just before Labour took power in July last year."

Politics is just a hobby for Kemi but then I have to wonder what is her day job

Getting really annoyed at the constant Virgin Media calls. Assuming it's even them.

I think this frontpage is an example of why Labour is facing the wrong way and fighting the last war. The new right isn't doing the old "legitimate concerns" thing that can be bargained with, reassured. Fundamentally the racism comes first and feeds the anti-immigrant stuff, not the other way round.

I spend a lot of time thinking about this, and I think it's because the 'real Starmer voice' is quite...blokey? And that is for a bunch of reasons a register that the British centre-left has always struggled to speak in.

Kemi fulfils a very important constitutional function by letting a failing PM whose government is imploding around him have a bit of scheduled easy fun each week as a treat

I continue to be fascinated by Kemi Badenoch's PMQs prep - she has improved a bit but they still don't seem to have mastered "Okay, but what will the prime minister say in response?"

There's a sector of the UK population that is always suspicious that, somewhere, somehow, someone is having an unsanctioned GOOD TIME and it drives them batshit angry.

Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss, Sunak, Starmer....
No UK government since 2010 has seemed able to comprehend that policy decisions in one field might affect policy priorities in a different geopolitical field

chinchinizilla tweet from November 16, 2022: "Delivered the chili. they seemed happy and said they had just been about to order food. they also asked permission to come over and nail the fence back up."
Two years and two days ago, a woman delivered some chili to her new neighbors. Everyone was very happy and normal and there were no lasting effects.

Honestly Starmer’s government looks even worse when you consider what a much weaker Democratic Congress did from 2021-2023

Biden was greatly restrained with small congressional majorities, various rules of the system, and lots of other stuff. Starmer has basically none of the same constraints and yet UK Labour is still so very, very worried. It's as if the party forgot it usually spends north of decade out of power.

LOL. Trump has to sign this thing now or go back on his word and veto it. Both chambers of Congress more or less unanimously passed this so vetoing it and getting it passed over his head potentially would look even worse.

The Tories in England long imagined that they were enthusiastic about monarchy, the church, and the beauties of the old English Constitution, until the day of danger wrung from them the confession that they are enthusiastic only about ground rent.

News from Senate floor: Schumer just asked for unanimous consent to pass Epstein file bill which overwhelmingly passed House.
No objection! So long as Johnson sends it over to Senate it is done and on to White House. On to you Trump and DOJ.
