It is feeling very festive at Glynn House this week.

The pupils have been making Christingle oranges and Pomanders as well as decorating Christmas biscuits.

As part of our first THRIVE tutor session, Glynn House students competed in the spaghetti marshmallow tower building challenge.

The winning groups tower was 91.5cm and was able to withstand a fan on the highest setting. Very impressive!

Some of our Year 11 Glynn House students went to HFC yesterday morning and were treated to a backstage tour to give them an insight of different career opportunities in the world of theatre and performance.

Jane Kirkham- MP for Truro and Falmouth visited us this week at Glynn House to discuss our provision. She was very impressed with the high standard of work of our pupils during her visit.

We have been making a great start to our science lessons at CHES this term. Here we have a student using a microscope to look at onion cells and then making a model of a cell using various materials. 🦠🧅

It has been 'Into the Future Week' for our Y10 pupils, designed to support encounters with employers and employees and further and higher education.

Our Year 10s have been enjoying a fanastic Into the Future week this week. A group of Year 10 students visited Falmouth University and were inspired by the wonderful sessions. Thank you @falmouthuniversity.bsky.social

Also on Weds, another group of Year 10 students, continued their Wave Ranger project at Gwithian beach and dunes

On Weds, we were joined by Claudia from GEL Energy, telling us all about the UK's first geothermal powerstation at United Downs near Redruth. It was a really informative and interesting session.

Claudia is also running a session for our online Y10 next week.

What a fantastic turn out for our Year 11 leaver's celebration last week? It was a beautiful day. Thank you to all students who attended, it was lovely to see you all before you finish.

Animal Care continues to be a highlight for many of our students. They have learnt about a wide variety of different species. Here are a few pictures of some recent encounters.

On 'Wave Rangers' last week students were looking at and identifying different animal and plants at Godrevy. Some of our highlights were; pyramid orchards, sand martins, lizards and Roe deer.

Our creative staff at Sowenna have made the young people a 'car' to practice their hazard perception test in preparation for their Driving Thoery Test. Amazing!

Fi's student made some lovely marbled fimo keyrings yesterday. She came up with lots of great ideas on what to make. Don't they look great?

Thank you to the charity 'Unbeatable Eva' who are going to supply some tube yarn so we can hand knot a blanket.

Staff and Pupils at Glynn House have worked hard to prepare for our VE Day celebrations. Some of our Year 10's have even come dressed for occasion
