I like that you can tell what color they are, some lands have had that problem...but I still would never run them. My favorite set-basics are the bloomburrow and caverns full arts, though the eldraine cut-outs are also some of the more gorgeous lands they've done.

The main story for Lorwyn is while Oona was defeated, instead of 1000 years of day or night, two gods are wandering the plane and warping the surrounding area into Lorwyn/Shadowmoor. A group of Strixhaven students/teachers come to the plane to study how weird that is. I am very excited for it lol

Also Lorwyn Eclipsed is both getting a full online story like sets normally do AND a novel! And the main Lorwyn Story is meant to tie more into Strixhaven than the larger plot to my understanding

To be fair this was literally the case with Bloomburrow and Edge of Eternity. They had very very little to do with the larger story and were focused much more on their new settings

(Also some of the best recent sets imo, weird hrmmmmmm)

Oh yeah to be clear when I say relaunch I am not referring to LoR, I was a LoR liker once upon a time myself. They had to reboot this physical card game and that is wild to me

#mtg my opinion of the TMNT cards is I am honestly kind of fine with them? I dunno being more cartoony and goofy than Spider-Man makes it work better for me. I would have preferred if they had Not but I mean I see some folks who are really really excited so I feel it is a net positive

They wanted a backup commander and they probably thought doing Partners with the turtles would be fun. If they gave the main set turtles partner players would riot. Seems like an okay compromise. I guess the alternative would be a different backup commander and partners on top of that, like LotR did

One card per player is still a lot of card draw, especially on a 5 mana 5/5 haste trample

I mean that's what I'm saying though, "ruining the aesthetics" was also pretty common for a number of planes that are pretty popular nowadays. I've already been through this all before so it kinda just washes over me. I do agree there are too many releases period though.

(Though I think it is totally fine to be turned off by universes beyond, to be clear, just like I think it is fine if someone starts playing the game because of it.)
