I can think of a dozen sensible ways in which being an MP could be made more like being a middle manager in a reputable company. But it will never happen because ‘we’ve always done it this way’ which IMHO is one of the big problems in Britain.

And I guess, nobody wants to stop former colleagues getting access to power and subsidised bars/restaurants when one day that will be them. 🐽 🐽

When you leave the civil service, you hand back your pass and are usually escorted out of the building even if you've 30+ years of working there behind you. I suspect it's the same in many large companies. Don't see why it should be different for MPs.
