trump is unleashed & showing his true colors. He is a blatant racist. He has eliminated DEI, placed those who were hired due to DEI on leave, eliminated Black History month from federal government, Spanish translations on the federal government web page, and more.
Devastating for scientists and their research, and everyone who benefits from that research.
Iβm not sure if everyone outside academia is aware that a delay or βpauseβ in grant funding often means the researchers themselves are lost from the field, along with their expertise.

Author: Brady Wakayama. Published: January 18, 2025. SEATTLE. On Saturday, tens of thousands of people from across the country participated in the Peopleβs March, including a large group in Seattle. It's an event that stems from the Women's March that happened 8 years ago, in response to President Donald Trump being elected in his first term. "The theme of this march is put the unity back into this community,β said Lisa Price. βSo, I'm really glad that people are showing up." People who are ready to fight for what they believe is worth fighting for with President-elect Trump officially being sworn in on Monday. βWe're fighting for the rights and the support of healthcare, LGBTQ+ folks, BIPOC folks, immigrant siblings that are here in this country and their rights as well and the environment," said Price, one of the lead organizers of the Seattle Peopleβs March. Price was also one of the main organizers of the Seattle Women's March in January 2017. "With this march, is that there's a lot of hopelessness, a lot of confusion, based on this incoming administration," said Price. Price said more than 100,000 people marched throughout downtown Seattle during the 2017 event. On Saturday, a couple thousand showed out, marching 2 miles from Cal Anderson Park to the Seattle Center. Seattle Police monitored the event and escorted marchers throughout Seattle. KING 5 did not see any counter protests while covering the event, which remained peaceful throughout the hours long event. βWe're here, and we're together and there should be nothing that divides us,β said Price. βWe live in this country and it's a great country."
