so basically you make every single pixel in a texture into a low quality "sphere?",

but you will be seeing only one pixel of that "sphere" so it's bad resolution will not matter,

every pixel will show their own sphere, causing player to see different things from different angles

now lets say, the surfaces are flat, so the player can actually only see half of this "directions sphere", which doubles the coverage resolution if used correctly

so what this does?

you can, possibly, add reflections
it's basically texture built in baked reflection

idk shading stuff, please tell your ideas

maybe you can just bake light directions on surface textures
lets say every pixel will hold 8 bit image color and remaining will be used for directions

16777216 / 256 = 65536, so every pixel can hold color data for 65 thousand directions...

idk about detection things so this is my idea,
just slap a huge ahh cube.

if player is inside the cube send a ray to check if there's anything between.

additionally you can check the distance beforehand to make field of vision not a cube but more circular👍👍
