All this to say that the seemingly weaponized election audits weren't the mayor's doing, they were Taggart's doing in an attempt at retribution for Menard, HO and Thompson's criticism and opposition of the Tewin project.

There were 3 audits, all initiated by a developer affiliated with Taggart; Menard, Horizon Ottawa & failed municipal candidate Doug Thompson.

The election audit committee didn't think there was enough evidence for the Menard audit but Thompson appealed to the Superior Court of ON and won.
