Not a great look, but it says a lot about Sutcliffe.

In a fit of pique over his pet SCOTUS telling him no on tariffs, he decides to take it out on⦠the rest of the world.
Insanity from pretty much any other leader on the planet, but par for the course for a guy who shit himself on camera while signing executive orders.
If she means βopenβ as in βopen a closed windowβ, sheβs wrong. If she means βfurther open an already open windowβ (which is what I expect she means: is there such thing as a βclosedβ Overton window?), sheβs right.
I hate to give points to someone associated with Juno News, but I might have to.
Iβm just saying: the city has a mechanism to deal with audits. In Menardβs case they didnβt want to do the audit, but were compelled to by the Superior Court.
If Sutcliffe could weaponize the audit process, why did it have to take a Superior Court ruling to make that audit happen?
All this to say that the seemingly weaponized election audits weren't the mayor's doing, they were Taggart's doing in an attempt at retribution for Menard, HO and Thompson's criticism and opposition of the Tewin project.
21.02.2026 03:42 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0There were 3 audits, all initiated by a developer affiliated with Taggart; Menard, Horizon Ottawa & failed municipal candidate Doug Thompson.
The election audit committee didn't think there was enough evidence for the Menard audit but Thompson appealed to the Superior Court of ON and won.
The Tumbler Ridge shooter had used OpenAI to discuss scenarios involving gun violence.
It was bad enough to get flagged and reviewed by employees, who warned the company & suggested alerting law enforcement.
The company said No.
This tragedy could have been prevented.
Gut wrenching.
I got in from mine half an hour before it started. I'm jealous, tbh.
21.02.2026 01:55 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Tourism is not appreciably affected by what's going on on our streets. 2025 saw the most visitors to the Market we've seen since 2019.
20.02.2026 21:05 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The Byward Market attracted 25.6M visitors last year (from 22M in '24), which means that it has now fully recovered from the pandemic, *despite* the increased issues of homelessness and addiction on our streets.
The thought that a clinic would keep tourists away from the Market is laughable.
Less cars makes densely-populated urban areas more liveable, which makes those areas more attractive, which means more people move into the area, and they'll support the businesses that entitled suburban drivers no longer wish to support.
Sounds great to me.
Quite the choice to lead this story with a motorist who thinks it's "insane" to not be able to turn right-on-red in Montreal, and who goes on to say that if rights-on-red were banned in Centretown she'd stop coming downtown.
Following the law is a pain, gawd!
Good riddance to entitled jackasses.
Phewwww

The US is a cat that alternates between playfully batting a Canadian mouse around and attempting to swallow it whole.
Why love the citizens of a country that refuse to elect leaders that will play nice with its most benign neighbour and trade partner?
Come visit us in Canada. We hate Trump even more than you do!
