Honestly because even as a child I loved history and social info about how people work that learning about all that helped be way more with remembering how words shift and might be spelled. Context!
I turned mine off as of the last bug iOS update and doing the same, glad you feel of use with the skills you have again. It takes all kinds etc etc
Also having tools to learn why words are like that? Huge breakthrough to learn the etymology and being able to apply that elsewhere
It really helped me so much more to learn what words I commonly fuck up via spell check than any “go look it up in the dictionary” or forced to repeatedly write that word ever did
But seriously fucked of my parents with heavy NJ and Queens accents to ask me to “sound it out” when every vowel out of their mouths was the opposite sound of the letter I needed to be writing
When Os are said with an A sound how was I ever going to figure this shit out
I think one of my favorite moments last week was trying to write myself a note and asking a mom at my table for spelling help and she pointed out that look, you can be just okay at spelling. It’s fine and won’t kill you, you can ask for help
