The notion that everyone is perfectly healthy until they hit the magic “50” is so bizarre.

You could literally be denied coverage for having had an asthma episode or something minor. Pre-existing conditions were so randomly applied it was essentially roulette unless your employer provided coverage. 18 yr olds were SOL unless employed, etc… so yeah, it made a huge difference.

I’m so sorry! I’ve supported the Fed government for many years - lots of good friends, colleagues and former colleagues, and the lack of sympathy/empathy is shocking. When the economic shockwave hits the beltway (again) some people will wake up, but it’s disheartening.
