Really good blog by @bennelmes.bsky.social - worth a read on the current situation around the ZEV mandate.
This bit is particularly important that often gets missed by the media: some carmakers have just made some very bad decisions.

Despite recent headlines, today's data from @newautomotive.org shows that electric vehicle targets are working, with one in four new cars sold in November being fully electric.

Hi Graeme, the mandate was subject to two rounds of consultation and manufacturers certainly engaged. Some actually urged the government to set more ambitious targets than we now have in place. This was the last round of consultation www.gov.uk/government/c...

My two memories of John Prescott: I once sat in on a meeting between him and Bryony Worthington discussing climate change in the Lords. Later, in the 2017 GE campaign in W Yorks, on the stump for Labour. Few people could be so at home in both places. RIP. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

That is, unless Congress and the Trump administration also target California's EPA waiver for Advanced Clean Fleets, which underpins its EV mandate.
