What you’re witnessing is a populist assault on the BBC.

This is not an institutional scandal in any meaningful sense of the word. It is an attack on public service broadcasting.

Told to throw my recycling into the non-recyclable waste at Tyseley HRC, as recycling bay apparently out of use (I didn’t). B’ham City Council won’t collect your recycling, or even recycle it when you take it to them! @bhamcitycouncil.bsky.social @veoliauk.bsky.social this is an embarrassment

Tax in the UK is rather average

Given that this is a fact overlooked by the media, it’s worth pointing out

In terms of spending that Tax less goes on health & social care than most G20 nations

But the media/rich cry & the sheep people believe

"When I was three, I wanted to be a fireman / Rushing in, saving lives / Now, it seems that’s exactly what I do: / Failed airway, anaphylaxis, non-routine / I run to the fire / But what do firefighters do when there is no fire?" Read the new poem: ow.ly/lU5J50WqxNK

The Emergency Department at Birmingham Children's Hospital sees 60,000 visits yearly, catering to the vibrant city of Birmingham. Over half of the young residents living in the most deprived areas, urgent action is crucial. Early intervention is key!

I ran an experiment, simultaneously posting articles on Bluesky and X, and then testing to see how many people actually clicked and read them. The numbers on Bluesky are higher, both because the X algorithm downranks journalism, and because Bluesky attracts readers, not just shitposters.

Hit by a car cycling home from work today. I’m okay (and very grateful for it), my bike isn’t. My Apple Watch realised I’d had a hard fall and tried to call 999 for me. I was able to tell it in time that I didn’t need help, but I’m still very impressed that the feature worked so well.

As retaliation for the Tariffs we will now be showing any American made TV show without the last five minutes. Good luck finding out how Frasier got out of that one.

Per Dr Atul Gawande, ex USAID: “All malaria supplies protecting 53 million people, mostly children, including bed nets, diagnostics, preventive drugs, and treatments – terminated.”

There are no words that sufficiently describe this level of cruelty and sadism.

This is thuggery from Trump and Vance, plain and simple.

They are bullying the brave true patriot Zelensky into accepting a deal which effectively hands victory to Russia. Unless the UK and Europe step up, we are facing a betrayal of Ukraine.

“If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.”

A classic quote from Malcolm X, who was assassinated 60 years ago today.

Tesla Paid Zero Federal Income Tax in 2024, Despite $2.3 Billion in Income This brings Tesla’s average tax rate over the past three years to 0.4 percent.

Tesla earned $2.3 billion in the United States in 2024.

You'd think it paid a lot in taxes, right?

Well it paid precisely $0 in federal income taxes last year.

You want waste and fraud? Look at what some big corporations and the rich are getting away with.

Quote “the UN was not created to take mankind to heaven, but to save humanity from hell.” Dag Hammarskjöld, second UN secretary general. On wall of UN building with a blue UN flag.

This quote has been on my mind. People say things like “what’s the point of aid, it’s clearly not worked”. People want problems to go away. I get that, it’s human. But we are about to see what will happen when the dull, painstaking work of stopping the worst from happening, suddenly - stops.

Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.
