#Drosophila research group with a heart for #scRNA seq on the search for why cells do what they do when they do it. We’re doing #DevBio #CellBio #Cancer research led by one of the #WomenInSTEM and a #NewPI.
Probably the best meeting I ever attended :)
09.07.2025 16:10 — 👍 4 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0This would be an incredible disaster to the #Drosophila community. And it sets a frightening sign for the entire scientific community. 🧪 The fly labs from @unimarburg.bsky.social are trying to organize to tackle this together.

and everyone else: let me know which other Junior European #Drosophila Investigators are missing!

I’ll also tag some JEDI folks that are on Bluesky (maybe everyone can contribute to extent the list because I’ll forget people!)

06.06.2025 07:14 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I see. To my knowledge there weren’t any notes that were made public. My quick summary would be: lots of exciting neuro people, lots of folks leveraging single cell (including us) and an increasing amount of metabolism research. Many of us publish on bioRxiv so that would be the best place to look.
06.06.2025 07:13 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0My French is very limited so please excuse that I answer in English :)
Yes, all the reason to be jealous - it was amazing! Rumor has it we may have the next meeting in Portugal, hopefully next year. Maybe a good time to join and find out for yourself…?
Greetings from the @fly-jedi.bsky.social conference in France at beautiful Chateau du Fey! Lots of amazing #Drosophila folks here!

A microscopy picture of a #Drosophila follicle cell in anaphase.
I wanted to share this beautiful picture of an anaphase cell. I just love #microscopy! Hats off to Sari for taking such a beautiful image in her second week here.

Drawing of a #Drosophila dressed as a mermaid
For my German speaking crowd: I needed more virgins and that’s what the student interpreted. For English speakers: more virgins sounds like mermaid in German (:

Did you know you can study #cachexie in #Drosophila? This is how a fruit fly with #cancer cachexia looks like in comparison to its healthy mate. They degrade fat and muscle tissue and retain liquid resulting in a bloated abdomen - similar to human patients.
