As someone about to graduate (as in literally next week), I can’t emphasize enough how these scams are drowning out and overwhelming legit library jobs everywhere except industry-specific job boards. And I’ve started to see them there. In a nightmare job market, they’re an extra twist of the knife.

Every facet of generative AI has made my professional life worse, without question, but THIS specific aspect has been driving me NUTS.

Clients, who have made me toil for weeks over indescribably small details, are now approving & producing in-house commercial artwork that looks like a fever dream.

Since 2024 I've seen jobs on sites like Indeed listed as "librarian" but are just $20 p/hr AI training jobs. They all require a BA (which is both unnecessary for data training and also not an MLIS which is actually required for a librarian job).

Mine is if your character stars in a movie that pulls down hundreds of millions of dollars in the box office you should never have money concerns again for the rest of your life.

Was just talking to a moot about this, but yeah!

Art is work! Art is skill!

Art of all kinds require dedication to the craft and effort to build the skills you need in order to make the art you want.

No artist is naturally gifted. We all work hard for our art.
