This is from like 5 years ago at this point haha my art improved a lot since this sketch but I have no intentions of really getting back into 3D for a while. I don't think my ZBrush fluency has gone away but I also have no desire to find out for the time being.
I am SURE people there are hundreds of people w the same exact story as me lol. Walking away isn't failing, and whatever we want to do after games, we know how to work sooo much harder than so many people lol
I explained it to my mom who's a doctor like this -- imagine going to med school, graduating + never landing a job as a doc. I spent 6 yrs of 40-100 hr work weeks w no payoff outside of a few part time jobs where my bosses treated me like shit lol. I think that helped her understand a little more 🥲
That is to say, I see and understand your pain 🫂 it takes a lot of perseverance to do the stuff we do!
At a certain point for me, it became really physically + psychologically painful to keep sitting at my PC, pouring 100s of hours into a piece, or cover letters + applications, in hopes that ANYONE would care, + getting 0 motion. Brutal experience, never wanna go thru it again + not sure I ever could
It's been insane for half a decade + gets worse constantly. I've had burn out for 1.5 yrs simply from expending SO MUCH energy trying to get a full-time games job. I try explaining it to people outside of games, they never really understand the pain of it. Burnout is inevitable tbh 😮💨😔
