As soon as I wrote that reply, I had a sneaking feeling you’d told me you’d read the book. Haha My bad. 🙃
That's so cool Spencer! Now have I got a book you need to read... haha
If you want one from the "diaspora," I'll volunteer 😂 I grew up in the Hartford suburbs in the 80s and 90s with no Canadian ties, but became a Habs fan. Ended up at McGill. Now I live in the Boston suburbs and am trying to raise Habs fans (so far so good-- next month we go up for the season closer).
Here's my Friday on My Mind column. This week: Parisian jazz singer Gabi Hartmann, the Festival of Films on Art, Alan Doyle, Vulgaires machins and G. Scott MacLeod.
Here is the third in my series State of the Habs Fan. This one is a portrait of a hairdresser from France who used to play semi-pro soccer there and became a huge Habs fan when he arrived in Montreal.
'Ses soirées, comme celles, au Robin des Bois, de Brendan Kelly et de Geneviève Borne, ou de MightyKat, Soundshaper et Luc Raymond, attirent particulièrement un public de 40 à 70 ans en manque de lieux où danser.' Chronique de Chantal Guy. www.lapresse.ca/arts/chroniq...
Texier's goal gets set up because of these two big saves by Jacob Fowler as well.
The rookie netminder is absolutely dialed in
Here is the second piece in my series, State of the Habs Fan. This one is about the lack of star Quebec players. The Habs used to be led by homegrown heroes and fans are disappointed that today there are no genuine Quebec stars in the NHL.
A joke. He’s gone. Not impressed by coach.
The Canadiens win this one 4-3, in large part thanks to Jakub Dobes. A very big 2 points #GoHabsGo
Could the Canadiens trade for some goaltending help ? My latest article for @TheHockeyNews : thehockeynews.com/nhl/montreal... #GoHabsGo #Habs #CH #Canadiens #THN

Has Elliotte Friedman said anything yet regarding his gross take about Ryan O’Reilly on HNIC?
“It’s kind of like dating, Ron - the more someone tells you no, the more attractive they get.”
In regard to O’Reilly not wanting to leave NSH. With the SA scandals in hockey, saying that on TV is a choice
My lattest article for @TheHockeyNews is about the everlasting goalie dilemma in Montreal: thehockeynews.com/nhl/montreal... #GoHabsGo #CH #Canadiens #Habs #THN
Unreal.
If the Netflix deal to swallow Warner Bros. felt like a five-alarm fire for the film industry, then the Paramount acquisition is a full-blown Hollywood inferno. If now isn't the time to panic, then when? www.theglobeandmail.com/culture/film...
Mon livre Le CH et son peuple retrace l'histoire de la franchise la plus emblématique du hockey, dévoilant sa relation symbiotique avec le Québec. Il souligne que le CH a remporté le plus de victoires lorsque il était le plus québécois,

My book Habs Nation: A People's History of the Montreal Canadiens chronicles the history of hockey's most iconic franchise, noting that the team won the most when its roster was at its most Québécois.

There is more for dance focused stuff no?
Gaz piece on Osheaga 26 by my pal @eleijon. Mentions that headliner Tate McRae was in hot water over her ad for Team USA at the Olympics. montrealgazette.com/entertainmen...
Lots of fun stuff at Osheaga 26. Maybe the coolest thing is Wolf Parade strutting back into town to bask in their #HeatedRivalry glory. Oh and cue the old dudes saying, who the eff is Tate McRae?
And they told a good story well without over-hyping it.
Wings doc was really good because they made it part of the Beatles Cinematic Universe and they didn’t try to make the band bigger than they were.
It's a mentality.
He’s my take as a guy who has spent a ton of time around young goaltenders over the last 10 years. Teams aren’t selecting the best athletes and teaching them technique. They’re taking the kids who pose the best, whether they have any ability to stop the puck at all, and Hope they grow talent.
Hockey has become a rich kid's sport. And, for whatever reason, rich kids in Quebec would rather ski than play hockey now.
