Paramount’s Warner Bros. deal is a full-blown Hollywood inferno
Viewers may find fewer choices - and fewer independent voices - on their screens if Paramount buys Warner Bros. Discovery
If the Netflix deal to swallow Warner Bros. felt like a five-alarm fire for the film industry, then the Paramount acquisition is a full-blown Hollywood inferno. If now isn't the time to panic, then when? www.theglobeandmail.com/culture/film...

Habs Nation: A People's History of the Montreal Canadiens - Baraka Books
Habs Nation is the story of how hockey's most winning team has always skated hand-in-hand with the people of Quebec and won 24 Stanley Cups.
My book Habs Nation: A People's History of the Montreal Canadiens chronicles the history of hockey's most iconic franchise, noting that the team won the most when its roster was at its most Québécois.

Lots of fun stuff at Osheaga 26. Maybe the coolest thing is Wolf Parade strutting back into town to bask in their #HeatedRivalry glory. Oh and cue the old dudes saying, who the eff is Tate McRae?

Wings doc was really good because they made it part of the Beatles Cinematic Universe and they didn’t try to make the band bigger than they were.

It's a mentality.

He’s my take as a guy who has spent a ton of time around young goaltenders over the last 10 years. Teams aren’t selecting the best athletes and teaching them technique. They’re taking the kids who pose the best, whether they have any ability to stop the puck at all, and Hope they grow talent.

Hockey has become a rich kid's sport. And, for whatever reason, rich kids in Quebec would rather ski than play hockey now.

L'ami Alain Brunet a raison. »

My dear old friend Alain Brunet is right. Two glaring issues in Canadian hockey. No goalies. No Quebec players. This has to change. As Eric Andrew-Gee wrote in the Globe yesterday – Where have you gone, Jean Béliveau? And we might add – Where have you gone Roy/Brodeur/Flower?

Absence of Quebec presence on men’s Olympic hockey team a sore spot for la belle province
Canada’s hockey team at the Games (the men, anyway) has no Quebeckers for the first time since 1952

Piece in @theglobeandmail.com on lack of Quebec players on Team Canada. My book Habs Nation is about how Habs have not prioritized Quebec players in 30 years. Piece says this might have had a negative influence on the development of hockey stars ici.

Interesting...Gretzky can wear the Canada pin on his suit jacket today, but couldn't wear the Team Canada jersey at the 4 Nations Face-Off last year...would he wear the pin if the Games were in the USA? Just wondering... #CANvsFIN #Olympics2026 #Womenshockey

How is the ice at the rink in Laurier Parc? The rink at Bernard and Gaspé? Jeanne Mance Park? Need to do some shinny research tomorrow afternoon and need to know where people are likely to be playing in the Plateau?

Then it turns out that none other than Mitchy Marner was the overtime hero, just going through players right left and centre to score the biggest goal of his life, leaving Leafs fans with major-league mixed feelings. Okay back to writing that article. What was it about again? 5/ End of string
