Scanxiety in cancer survivors is a bummer of a thing! My mom's is next week. Hoping your results are boring AF.

Looks terrific! Our spring was so cold mine are just a couple of weeks after sprouting. I'm trying to grow the little French cornichon type to make my own again (last time was 20 years ago and a different climate so fingers crossed).

So gorgeous! And I love hearing about what makes a good working experience for actors.

And it looks like I'm in a crowd of us (yay!). Maybe some of the more science heavy Connie Willis? Some of the humor may go over his head though.

Coming here to say my once 14 year old loved the Andy Weir books (and Murderbot).

Exactly my thought process for getting my first subscription ever to watch Murderbot on appletv. So far so good but....

If I think of it as fan fiction it's great so far!

They are def mutants! But why are they even orange when cats don't see orange?!? Ever since I read "An Immense World" it's been on mind... I'm guessing they're orange because humans like them that way. (Also check out Darwin's Cats- maybe they prove what we already know.... orange is crazy!)

Those all make me eye roll for exactly the reason I think you're alluding to. But I gotta admit the one "I bought before I knew Elon was a Nazi" did make me smile even though I still don't believe them (the Paypal Mafia SUCKS)...

I miss the stuff in glass jars from Sweet Creek Foods. It disappeared when Azure bought them.

The other I haven't found anything about in my brief search today. Margaret S. Forbes Irvine and Peggy Craig. I can post that one here, the other has family in it so I'd rather not post but happy to share another way.

Yes, sure. I went back and dug through my photos and it turns out neither couple had been buried together but were photos of the memorials one woman of the pair had erected to their "friend/companion" of "many" or "forty" years. One has since been written about online- Mary Bristow/Elyza Fraser.

Thank you for sharing this, I really love those long past glimpses of queer life that managed to persist. I took photos of a couple of gravestones in Scotland that had lady companions who lived together for 40+ years and were buried together. It didn't occur to me to ask a librarian about them!

I had this same experience with my SE Asian spouse and (but it was Thailand so maybe I haven't hit the platonic ideal yet). Here in Silicon Valley Apni Mendi gets in shipments of many different varietals from India, and at $50+ a box people snatch them right up!

I spent 40 min at dinner listing all the reasons why @marthawells.com Murderbot on AppleTV is the first show I've been excited about since Heroes Season 1 (I know, I know). The books got us through the worst of the pademic and middle school and it feels so nice to be excited about something...

Along with not being worried you'll bleed out at a hospital due to new laws about the sanctity of life if you are knocked up, better health insurance options for the whole family, better care and support options for senior/aging parents, free college, etc. etc.

Also, there's a ton of imported goods (ok fine, the goods are food we use for cooking) that simply have no US made counterpart. I say this as a buy local diehard who shops farmers markets and slow fashion and believes in buy once cry once etc etc. PS.... What is up with their daddy complex?

I'm not sure you'll thank me once you fall down the rabbit hole of fancy aged vinegars but you're welcome! Mala Market carries good ones from China (I think they have 3/4 of the famous ones at various grades), and Yun Hai has a Taiwanese one steeped with pomelos, ume plums, and Taiwan lemons!!!

Hear hear! (And I love Clarissa Wei!) I have 5 (or 6?) different black vinegars in my cupboard and this is one of them. My most used is actually the aged Baoning from Mala market (about to open my 3rd bottle). Black vinegar + good soya + chilli oil = magic.

My 15 year old treats "Rise" like it's his, even tho I bought it for the adults. I'd love a signed bookplate!
