State of Salmon Report - Pacific Salmon Foundation A broad-scale evaluation of the state of all six species of Pacific salmon found in British Columbia and the Yukon, including Chinook, chum, coho, pink, sockeye, and steelhead.

Good news! State of Salmon shows Chinook & coho on East Vancouver Island well above average. Huge gratitude to local streamkeepers, watershed groups & First Nations Guardians. Since 2021, the @psfca.bsky.social invested $2.3M in habitat restoration. 🐟

Opinion: DFO’s flawed science leaves wild salmon vulnerable to disease As government finalizes plan to transition away from open-net pen salmon farming in B.C., decision-makers must receive robust science advice

A new peer-reviewed paper finds DFO’s framework for assessing salmon farm pathogens often downplays credible science, despite strong scientific evidence clearly linking farms to risks for wild salmon. Read Gideon Mordecai’s op-ed: vancouversun.com/opinion/op-e...

Study finds last decade was the worst on record for salmon monitoring in B.C. and Yukon | Pacific Salmon Foundation A new study has found that the past decade was the worst on record for monitoring salmon populations in British Columbia and the Yukon since broadscale surveys began more than 70 years ago.

Fraser River sockeye and pink salmon are returning in spectacular numbers this year – but what do we know about the thousands of other salmon populations across the province?

A‬ study in @cdnsciencepub.com examines the decades-long decline in salmon monitoring efforts: psf.ca/news-media/s...

An estimated 27 million pink salmon are predicted to return to the Fraser River in 2025 – the highest forecast on record! Pinks have a two-year life cycle and return in higher numbers in odd-numbered years. How did the odd-year pinks become more dominant?
