We REALLY need a new Darkstalkers game. The last actually new game (not a repack of older ones) came out 25 years ago. I love these characters.

Nothing quite like dusting off the oil paints, spending a day getting your hands dirty making something outside your norm just to soak in and enjoy the journey, with no regard to the destination.

Meanwhile I need to actively force myself to include yellow/warm tones otherwise everything exists in Elsa's castle. Give me frost and I'm content.

In the quest for FEWER cards in my final product, I'm folding 140 split cards into a pile of 119 split cards. This means 3 things on the front and 1 big thing on the back. Ya it's fairly brutal that it goes both ways. We're going to lose a generation to this.

It feels like the most destructive part of this whole AI thing is rotting the minds of school kids. Degrees earned after the launch of chatgpt just can't guarantee competency. They're mostly useless now.

Honestly I often wish art could be a trade like a local mechanic. If you need something painted or designed you bring it to a local artist. Would be nice to just be considered blue collar and make a fair wage doing this.

This character looks great in action... but now I am left curious what they would look like in a relaxed state. No ripped muscles or action pose. Sitting, sleeping, meditating... what would that look like?

Great colors and contrast. I appreciate the depth of this scene where it looks like I can see deep into the forest/city even with it mostly obscured. Full meal for the eyes.

Big numbers that 49. Quiet life here in obscure-ville.

This wiggle effect was something I had to emulate with bone based animations for a client years ago. Recreating the wiggle, adding specific 1 frame jitters etc. By the end it would have been easier to just draw it frame by frame. Makes me happy to see it here done this way.

Just about 15 years old and I still like this oil painting. Wife won't let me hang it and she was my model for it. Ah well.

People I've known like this DO have something they are passionate about / skilled at that makes them special but "art" is a unique case. It was probably the first instance they experienced as a kid of a peer being significantly better than them at a thing. It's like an old wound they seek to heal.

I always found it much harder to plan for a full figure (or multiple figure) illustration than to simply fall into one accidentally when making a portrait i liked. Don't get the luxury professionally, but my personal work tracks with that.

401ks, Pensions, Housing... all of it designed by Boomers to benefit Boomers. You remember the Greek proverb "Society is made great by old men planting trees whose shade they will never know"? Yea.. Boomers collectively looked at that and laughed. We, the children of Boomers, don't get to retire.

I used to teach a painting workshop where I'd demonstrate painting the owl from Harry Potter. Now I won't let my kids near the franchise. The one remaining painting of mine from those years has the envelope in its beak edited out and (as a result) is just a random snow owl.
