New event: Gray’s School of Art: 140 years
Thursday 2nd April, 7-8pm, Online
We are delighted to host an online event to celebrate 140 years of Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen.
For those that could not attend, some of the papers will become part of the next volume of the Scottish Society for Art History Journal – keep your eyes peeled for more info later this year! You can always check out the previous volumes in the meanwhile.
#scottishart #arthistory #RSA200 #SSAH
We also heard from former President of the RSA, artist Joyce Cairns, and we concluded the two days with a guided tour of the exhibition 'Origin Stories' led by Head of Collections Sandy Wood.
The papers presented covered aspects of the RSA's history, reflections on current and past academicians as well as the artists, disciplines and styles that were rejected by or challenged the academy.
We had a great time at this year's SSAH conference – thank you to everyone involved in organising, our partners at the RSA, and all our wonderful speakers!
This year's conference is on 5-6 February, in the Hawthornden Lecture Theatre, The National on the Mound, Edinburgh.
