New paper out in AJP–Renal Physiology! Collaborating with Gentzon Hall (Duke), PhD student Yingyu Sun shows how ERISM -a cell force imaging technology developed in our lab- helps reveal how rare mutations are involved in certain forms of kidney disease.
Many thanks to all for this great collaboration pushing further the limits of microlasers - this time for DNA sensing. In particular to former #HCNB postdoc @sorayacaixeiro.bsky.social now at UBath and our friends from @kathlab.bsky.social in organic chemistry @chemunicologne.bsky.social.
Congratulations to Tomasz Plaskocinski on winning a #MSCA fellowship to work at #HCNB and in my team for the next two years. Tomasz will be working on intracellular lasers - stay tuned!
Schlieren textures and topography make organic polariton lasers better! To the point where lasing is achieved with simple metallic mirrors for the first time. Great work by Florian Le Roux, @andreasphysics.bsky.social and Francisco Tenopala Carmona. Check out our Nature Comms paper rdcu.be/d6GXz
The new filters will allow larger field of view and reduced noise in fields like micro-optics, #displays, optical #sensors, #imaging and #biophotonics.
Conventional filters change color with angle (left). Using ultra-strong coupling to organic materials, our #polariton filters show angle-independent characteristics (right).
📢Just published: Breaking the angular dispersion limit in thin-film optics by ultra-strong light-matter coupling rdcu.be/d2hUo. This may be our most impactful work so far, challenging a fundamental limit that has constrained optical design in the past. @andreasphysics.bsky.social
Last meal in Kyoto was a gem of a place, having a relaxing lunch with @TheGatherLab. I went for cold soba and tempura and Malte the grilled eel and udon in broth. Worth the trek. Handmade Udon & Soba Shōraku
After a fantastic #ICEL2024 in Kyoto, the bar is going to be high, my friend @OlivierResearch. But then there is very litte Belgian #chocolate cannot achieve! #oled #tadf #ICEL2026
