"If you’re a billionaire, why are you a billionaire? Give your money away, shorties." is the most iconic line delivered from behind a podium ever.
I’m in my "mainly excited about different innovations in chargers and cables" phase of middle-aged dad life right now.
Note: We live in the NYC area so everything costs a lot. We are not crazy dog parents that spend on excessive stuff. Just the baseline to keep him happy+ healthy and to accommodate our lives with occasional help in dog care.
We have had our dog for 10 years and have spent just shy of $70,000 on him in that time.
This includes vets, boarding / sitting / walking, grooming, food, treats and everything.
Love the guy and wouldn’t trade a minute away for a million dollars.
But dang.

This is why I’m bullish on autonomous mobility-on-demand.
Humans are cognitively challenged emotional meatbags that shouldn’t be allowed to operate dangerous machinery like automobiles, especially in densely populated areas.
City streets are no place for human drivers.
Yeah, 4o image generation really is a hoot.
2. New leaders need to recognize that the past got us where we are. Losers poop on "bad decisions" made in the early stages without recognizing they were what built the house.
1. Early stage leaders need to recognize the need to dramatically change their approach. What worked earlier will cease to be valuable
"What got you here won’t get you there" is one of the most important mantras for scaleup leaders. For two reasons:
Me going through a Figma file I haven't opened up in a few weeks.
That’s hardly a reason not to seek more efficient solutions like UBI where possible.
So much is wasted hunting down welfare queens and social security abusers. For nothing.
The pursuit of "government efficiency" is a great goal.
Now if only the numbskulls currently pursuing it would discover the one and only truly efficient solution:
Universal Basic Income.
Now.
The best professional advise I've ever gotten was:
"Tommi, if you're always surrounded by assholes, maybe you're the asshole"🔥
Cut my anger issues in half. I learned the "U-turn"

💡 Early-stage? Chase ideas. Later-stage? Kill them.
At $1M, you’re exploring—finding what works.
At $10M , you’re exploiting—scaling what works.
At $50M, you’re expanding—building on what works.
The bigger you get, the fewer things you can afford to focus on.
Scaling = choosing what not to do.
“We’re going upmarket! Bigger deals, fewer customers!”
Cool. Hope you’re ready for:
❌ 12-month sales cycles
❌ 30-person buying committees
❌ A must-have supporting feature wishlist longer than the Lord of the Rings trilogy
Selling to whales is not a side quest.
Which of these routes would you choose for a 5-6 day road trip?
I'm looking for an HSA provider for my sole proprietorship.
Who should I use?
Ladies & gentlemen, @questlove.bsky.social absolutely CRUSHED IT with the new 2-hour documentary on SNL’s musical legacy.

This is basically the Bill Pay of urban mobility solutions. Since we can’t seem to shake the dysfunctional part (personal vehicle, check) we end up doing the right thing (subterrannean infra, electronic payments) but without solving the actual issue.
Utter human tragedy, forever doomed to chase that same high, never quite reaching it. 😭😭😭
I’m sad for you, my bud. 😫
Peaking in your career at your first job… must be a tough experience.
Why am I learning about this only now?
The only sport that matters!

Super rad to just randomly get a letter in the mail that my family and I are without health coverage just because your billing department doesn't know how to route payments correctly.
And you're trying to make me run around to fix your issues?
GTFOHWTBS.
Everything about becoming a sole proprietor is amazing.
Except dealing with health insurance.
I don't even care about the $$$.
The hassle of dealing with these predatory vendors, their customer-hostile processes and terrible systems is inhumane.
