I don't agree with the "playoff wall" point, but it comes down to how I define success. I enjoy getting to the playoffs year after year. The fact that it ends in heartbreak most of the time is the nature of the beast. No one wins every year.
I hope theres more focus on traits like size and speed
- thinking that “the previous guy got fired for 6 straight divisional rounds” would create expectations that would scare away… *checks notes*… the most insanely hyper-competitive self-confident humans on earth… is absolutely silly

- I don’t love how all this went down and my confidence is shaken on the outlook of the team… but we have Josh. With a franchise QB, everything is possible
- the idea this isn’t an ELITE opening is laughable. Getting $50M to hitch your wagon to Josh Allen… full stop
- I hope they allow Josh to be a part of the process but honestly not that much decision making influence. They need the right coach, not just who Josh likes the most. Someone who evolves the base play calling for a schematic advantage THEN Josh can create as needed
- However, I’m not upset that Beane is still here to run the hiring process vs hoping Terry did it or hired the right consultant/agency. The risk of ruining this critical last window of Josh’s prime is much too great
- HOW McDermott was fired feels off… but moving on was necessary, if painful. He had led one of the greatest stretches the team had seen… but they hit the playoff wall Terry described… they did
- I would have made a clean break with both McD & Beane out together
With some time to marinate
- Terry is not a polished public speaker, don’t let that translate to being unintelligent or incapable of making a business decision (no more pressers)
- I genuinely don’t think Beane was involved in the firing & simply reacted to Terry’s decision
this turned out to be a load-bearing post about the college football season
