EX: You need to make a large viking valley from AC Valhalla. Focus on solid landscape work (blockout), procedural tools such as PCG, and strong robust kits. This can help you find suitable pipelines and resources.

Looking at art and understanding how someone did it, is a useful skill to have!

Think about game size, the amount of detail, or what is needed to make a linear game (ex: Naughty Dog’s LoU) vs open world (Assassin’s Creed/ Red Dead Redemption 2 ).

If any areas show red, it means the albedo value is too low. (Red and orange - bad. Green is good!)

Try it and see if it helps!

Here's a handy quick tip to improve game asset renders from SDA instructor, Robin Mariancik:

If your renders appear too dark, the problem might be with your albedo values. Open your asset in Substance Painter and apply the PBR Validator filter at the top of the layer stack.
