The traffic they pull is incredibly expensive, downtime with no income at all simply isn't feasible. I'm getting very tired of people treating this like 'Itch can fix this by this one weird trick' by people that have never investigated the process of getting a high risk processor, at their scale.

Thank you so much for spelling all this out. These are all things I had and understanding of but didn't know how to put into words to get others to understand the cost/difficulty/complexity involved. Itch is in a weird spot where they're not as small as Dreamwidth but aren't as big as Valve.

Selling as an individual, oh yeah, the rate is still better than steam. If we're talking Itch though, if their rate is indeed as high as 18-20%, compared to (I think) 2.6-2.9% with Stripe/PP, that would require then to reevaluate a lot of things like the customizable revenue sharing.

Yeah it varies between what you offer and the subject matter.

I just think its disingenuous to frame the low rate with such certainty when the range could be much higher depending on what you offer, (or hidden fees beyond the quote) for example:
