When I say AI is a con, I'm talking about what seem to be spiv companies like Nscale and front ends like grok and chatgpt employ the google search algorithm and consolidate key points from the websites they find.

How much more evidence do we need? The ultra-rich and the governments supporting them will destroy everything for the sake of profit, power and pride. Nothing is precious to them - not human life, not the living world - except their own wealth and status. Our survival depends on resisting them.
I wasn't intending to turn this into a thread, but it seems to have happened anyway.
It's about the great plague on our lives: the extreme wealth of a tiny number of people.
And what to do about it.
I wrote my first algorithm in 1975 as part of a noughts and crosses game program. We had a teletype terminal in the science block and could buy time on a Honeywell Bull mainframe via a new X25 connection. I stored the program on punched paper tape and still have it. Oh what larks!
An algorithm to solve the complex and some would say insoluble “travelling sales person problem” was in fact solved many, many years ago, by the humble bees. This and other fascinating facts are revealed in this excellent programme on BBC 4.
