Delighted to finally share I will be starting as Historian and Archives Manager with the Dublin Cemeteries Trust, based in Glasnevin Cemetery shortly. This is my favourite place in Dublin and being able to write about its history and significance in Irish history is exciting.

Books always seem to take longer than planned, and this one has been no exception. It has been the most fascinating and conceptually challenging thing I've ever done but utterly enjoyable and fulfilling for the most part. A bit to go still, but I think some light is visible.

The Dublin Diocesan archive is superb. One of the reasons is Noelle Dowling. Today, I came with mixed emotions as Noelle finishes and moves onto a new adventure in the archives world on Friday. she has done so much for so many researchers in a friendly and generous spirit.

surely the market for Irish history isn't that small? Most bookshops see tables heaving with Irish history books.

A fascinating new Urban History article by Dr Daithรญ ร“ Corrรกin (DCU School of History and Geography) and Dr Joe Rodgers (DCU Library) explores the destruction & rebuilding of Dublin's O'Connell Street following the Irish civil war, 1922-1933. bit.ly/3Zn6uhf @joerodgers1969.bsky.social
