I think this is ready for primer and paint! Very happy with how it came together, and pretty excited about how much more comfortable it is than the old one. It’s almost like I actually know what I’m doing with this crap now. 🤣

Working on upgrading the bionic arm for my DIGGABOSS cosplay. The old one is smelly and makes my arm bleed, but I’m too dedicated to the bit of this character to just give it up completely! 😝

Oh hey, I’m still alive! Been quiet around here as I’ve been busy with life things and not doing a ton of hobby, but I did manage to half-ass a new, KUSTOM BATTLE CART to push my display around on at events! My old cart’s wheels were terrible, so I have 5” casters now to conquer elevators with. 😆
So, figure out your time, charge appropriately for your time and supplies, and don’t sweat the fools that walk away because you’re not working for pennies, apple cores, and exposure!
Anyway, I didn’t start figuring things out until I realized I only made like three bucks an hour on my first couple of commissions! That sucked hard, and once I got a handle on it all I lost like 75% of the jobs I quoted on because I was now too expensive, but still found enough to work steadily.
Tracking time was also crucial to keeping myself booked comfortably. If I knew I only had 20hrs a week to put into it, I had to make sure I booked about 20hrs of weekly work, exactly. Otherwise, I’m over or underloaded, and i couldn’t do that without a solid record of time to refer to.
The real trick there is understanding how much time goes into every step of the process, from receiving minis to shipping them. I timed everything I did, and created a log to help me get my head around it. That let me be more accurate with my quotes so I wasn’t horribly wrong with time estimates.
I stopped commission work a while back, but while I was doing it I always charged an hourly rate; plus overhead for paint use, brush wear, packing materials, etc…; and I think that’s the only way to do it properly so you get paid what you’re time is worth and don’t give out your supplies for free.
Besides the cacti, everything is carved out of XPS foam insulation board, then hot glued together, textured with spackle, and painted with craft paints. I used a Proxxon Thermocut to slice the foam into blocks for the big rocks, but the rest of the cuts were made with a razor knife.
Added some giant rocks to the new terrain as I wanted some big LOS-blocking stuff, and figure they’ll also be cool as backdrops for pics. 😁

Made some new, oldschool terrain this weekend and got in a game of 40K with my brother on it yesterday 😁

Thanks, and yup! I’m planning on running my Bad Moonz, with the cosplay and new display board, at the 40K Flex as long as I can get tickets.
I brought home the Best Theme trophy from the Warhammer 40,000 Grand Narrative! It’s an amazing event and I CANNOT WAIT for next year’s!

Getting ready for this year’s #warhammer40000grandnarrative and added a new Ork skull plate to the costume! The top is attached to my armor’s harness while the jaw is attached to a belt, so the mouth moves a bit when I move. 😆

Still not ready to show off my new Ork Display for this year’s Warhammer 40,000 Grand Narrative, but I’m close! In the meantime, here’s a pumpkin display I did for the office nine years ago today! I did a bunch back when I was in-office full time, and this one was my favorite. 🤣

Got some new bikes battle-ready! Sure, I need to do a ton more to get them to the level of my others, but they’re good enough to hit the table for now, and get me up to two full squads with leaders. 😁

I’d love to do Tacoma, but it’s a tough one for me to make happen. Maybe one of these years.
Yup! It’s my first time coming out here to play in it, but I’m told it’s been going on at least a couple of years now. It’s been super fun and everyone’s been amazing to play with!
Also, yeah, STOMPAZ IZ DA BEST!!! 😆
