The joke is that women who did not come back from the netherworld sustained injuries on their torso and head, which were fatal, while the women who returned suffered non-fatal injuries primarily to their arms and legs. The lack of information on the presumptive fatal injuries found on corpses the netherworld resulted in dwarven armorers concluding that these arm and leg injuries must be those typically inflicted overall. And as a result armoring the areas they presumed were typically attacked, the arms and legs. The flaw in this logic being that their conclusions were drawn from incomplete data lacking the most critical information, and their attempts to assist made the situation worse. Man I have such a hard time wrapping my head around the survivorship bias concept what the fuck

I've had the survivorship bias plane model explained at length but honestly this diagram makes WAY more intuitive sense because I am a pervert and not an aeronautics engineer.
