Want to improve your #dataviz design eye?
➡️ I just released a little game:
You have to spot the better version of a chart and learn the fundamental concepts along the way.

Is the green group increasing or decreasing?
I really love this kind of examples, illustrating the weaknesses of a chart type 🙂

You're going to love d3, but it's a bit hard at the beginning!
Do you want to work in a react environment?
2 websites I made that could help you:
- d3-graph-gallery.com
- react-graph-gallery.com
Anything that make you struggle, please let me know and I'll write a tuto :)
Never use a dual Y axis line chart!
I made a little playground:
You can tweak the axis limits and see how different the graph looks like:
www.react-graph-gallery.com/example/dual...
🚨 Stop chasing the p-value!
Increasing your sample size will always yield a significant result.
Even for trivial differences.
🎮 I created a little interactive playground to illustrate this issue:
react-graph-gallery.com/example/t-test-playground
Always pair p-values with effect sizes!
🎁 New tutorial on the R Graph Gallery!
A bump chart by @matschnetzer
The key to clarity in this #dataviz is highlighting a few key lines, preventing the chart from becoming too cluttered (aka spaghetti chart)
➡️ Full code and explanation:
r-graph-gallery.com/web-bump-plot-with-highlights.html
🚨 r2 can be very misleading!
I just made a little scatterplot where you can drag circles and instantly see the r2 & regression line:
www.react-graph-gallery.com/example/scatterplot-r2-playground
Perhaps it can help you get a better intuition of how r2 works!

Recently a Nobel Laureate gave a talk with a very very bad scatterplot.
I can't find it again.. 😔
Any idea?? 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Love this.
Lisa's blogposts about color keep amazing me! 😍
Never know what color to use for your graph background?
Check this article by @lisacmuth.bsky.social !
🌈 If in light mode, use a bright color (high luminance) and a low saturation. Stay in warm tones.
🌚 If in dark mode, use dark grays instead of pure black
