and in the back of your mind, you know that you could be dragged back to that familiar struggle and darkness, the “city”, and you know that it probably will happen. But you’ll be dragged back with the memory of the beauty and community that you experienced, a better place.
I think that trench as a place is incredibly accurate symbolism for how it feels when you find yourself in a better mental space after becoming so familiar with struggling.
