Last night, Trump tried to sell Americans a fantasy. But energy costs are up. Grocery prices are up. Health care premiums are up.

If America is “the hottest country,” it’s because of record and deadly heat waves and climate disasters, not because Trump is rebuilding our economy. 173,000 clean energy jobs have been lost or put on hold because he chose Big Oil over US workers.

Tonight, during his State of the Union, Trump will brag about a “strong economy.” But you can’t spin a grocery receipt. You can’t applause-line your way out of a heating bill people can’t afford to pay.

Our union is anything but prosperous.

Trump has gutted more than 31 pollution protections, forfeiting $275 billion in annual savings and risking up to 30,000 preventable deaths each year. He isn’t protecting Americans, he’s protecting polluters.

Tomorrow, during the State of the Union address, Trump will claim the economy is strong. But you can’t spin grocery receipts, rent spikes, or utility hikes. If this is prosperity, why are families choosing between food, heat, and rent?
