Me, trawling through a week's worth of articles on trans people from the mainstream papers, looking for any of them to even mention the host of UN experts calling out the UK because of their treatment of trans people...

After the transphobic supreme court ruling the EHRC has issued guidance which ultimately moves to push trans peoples out of public life.

This guidance is transphobic.

We demand it must be changed to support trans people.

Please come down to the offices in support of- the more supporters the better!!

A list outlining policies for the use of public workplace facilities by trans individuals. Key points include that trans women (biological men) and trans men (biological women) should not use facilities designated for the opposite biological sex, as this would make them no longer single-sex. In some cases, trans individuals may also be restricted from using facilities of their own biological sex. It suggests the provision of mixed-sex facilities where possible and allows for gender-neutral use of lockable single-person rooms.

New interim guidance from the UK "Equality and Human Rights Commission." Trans people are effectively banned from all bathrooms.

Finally, I think it's all starting to hit me. I decided to go swimming today - first non-work thing I've done since the judgment came out - and when I got out of the pool I just started sobbing.

So many people are going to get hurt. And I don't have the power to stop it.

It hurts every time someone suggests unisex or disabled loos as a โ€œsolutionโ€ to the trans bathroom question as though the idea of our segregation is reasonable

One thing, I do feel allegory is powerful and important, and the X-Men are often (not always) a great example of that. Sometimes, the reader is doing the heavy lifting in this.

It's just that I also feel marginalized people need representation IN CANON and not as robots or aliens sometimes.

Cis women in Ireland need to talk to other cis women in our lives and pour water on the kind of thinly veiled, soft-sounding bigotry that's creeping into people's social media and minds before we fully go the way of the UK. TERFs are claiming to speak FOR us - we need to speak for ourselves. Loudly.

I will always keep using the womens bathroom like i have for the past decade, and my entire adult life, in this country

If an MP is doing the rounds insisting that trans women have to use men's toilets, the interviewer needs to be asking what law says so, and what the consequences would be for breaking said law. At the moment what we have is a supreme court ruling and *advice* flowing from that.

If what you're seeing is a lot of angry trans people online, this might be why.

3 years ago, "biological male" was a term of abuse thrown at trans women by anti-trans folk. It first appeared on the BBC in Sept 22 when Ed Davey was interviewed by Justin Webb. Today, that abuse is law.

The Vagina Museum Board of Trustees response to the UK Supreme Court ruling

In light of the UK Supreme Court ruling, the Board of Trustees of the Vagina Museum wish to express their unequivocal support of and solidarity with their trans staff, volunteers, community partners, visitors and wider audience.

From the outset, the Vagina Museum has always been trans inclusive. An important part of its mission around spreading knowledge and raising awareness of gynaecological anatomy and health has been to challenge normative assumptions around our bodies and how they may or may not be connected to experiences of gender, gender expression and broader sexuality.

In doing so, we highlight that sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation and other characteristics related to sexual identity exist in various different combinations and their relationship to one another is never clear cut. What is clear to us is that everyone, regardless of their body parts, are deserving of human rights, dignity and the power to identity as they wish to.

Just as we act as a forum for womenโ€™s reproductive health and rights from a feminist, inclusive and intersectional perspective; we will continue to advocate for trans+, non-binary and queer communities and rights.

We cannot talk about feminism unless our feminism includes trans folks.
We cannot talk about reproductive rights without trans rights.
We cannot advocate for human rights without trans rights.

The ruling comes amidst an increasingly frightening climate for trans people in the UK and globally. We will continue to abide by our values, and ensure that the Vagina Museum remains a space in which trans people are included, welcomed and celebrated.

In solidarity.

Kemi Bdaenoch is being openly transphobic in response.

Thatโ€™s the choice in parliament:

- open transphobia and hate, or;

- glad handed bullshit covering transphobia

While both are trying to strip away Human Rights and legal protections.

So today we've had:

- Equalities minister stating trans women will be treated on men's wards
- Labour MPs saying you can only be gay/lesbian if you don't date trans people, with the government saying yep this'll be backed up by EHRC guidance
- The PM saying trans women are men
- Labour MPs 1/3

In the wake of near-absolute legal victory, where the UK Supreme Court interprets a law with "common sense" and twists itself into contradictions to hand them everything they wished for, they are still miserable because they are not being thanked and apologized to for being unrepentant ghouls.

The Gist: Trans rights are Data rights A UK court has made a decision defining genders which has put it at odds with a less noticed, more important, decision from the CJEU. This is the Gist.

New Gist: Trans rights are Data rights

An unusually long Gist on the data protection implications of the UK Supreme Court's decision to define what is the meaning of the word 'woman' in a single UK Act.

In response to calls to ban parties from pride for their transphobic politics, I think one thing to make note of is that if you're a politician in a transphobic party, instead of standing at pride you could speak at parliament about the shame the government's failure on trans policy brings you.

Itโ€™s quite astonishing the level of cis straight privilege. Iโ€™ve seen several replies & comments on the massive protest yesterday, by them, where they automatically assumed the crowd was cis straight ppl, or as one blocked tulip said โ€˜heterosexualsโ€™. There are ~ half a million trans ppl in the UK.

The anti-trans ideologues are best described as an end times cult who are waiting for someone else's end times; ours. And because we didn't simply go away, they're madder than they've ever been. The friends and loved ones they've alienated aren't groveling for forgiveness like they expected.
