She’s a serious candidate; at this point I think most people dismissing her seriousness are at least partially motivated by misogyny; and this is a clearer articulation of a progressive foreign policy than I’ve seen anyone else running for office make
The entire Democratic strategy debate — "moderate" or move left? fight or compromise? — is based on a misreading of data. Voters don't think Dems are too progressive; they think Dems are weak. The actual math on what to do about this isn't even close!

They want to scare people out of posting ICE-critical content, because they know these posts are turning even their supporters against them. But the better option is to take a page out of their playbook and flood the zone.
Today's Load-bearing Tomato addresses the age old question:
"why don't the devs just [SOCIAL MEDIA OPINION]"
It turns out, "a lot of reasons", but if you never have to test your ideas, you never have to discover why they're not any good.

as an experienced designer and developer playtesting projects I work on extensively... I still do this all the time! building a habit of recording and reviewing footage of my own play has showed me soooo many things I'm misunderstanding in the moment, it's been incredibly valuable and also humbling

The thing people get stuck on is that 1) leftist defections didn't lose the election, but also 2) the policies and messaging needed to win broader support include a lot of "leftist" positions. This isn't a contradiction but it does seem like one from a purely binary factional model of politics.

Very little if anything seems to have changed on the ground. ICE is still out there terrorizing neighborhoods and trying to disappear neighbors. None of us on the ground are buying this bullshit. We will keep organizing and fighting.
I hope you can see how this work of defunding and dismantling harmful organizations within our own government is critically entwined with your efforts on data protections, financial transparency, anti-corruption, etc. We must treat the symptoms but also root out the deeper causes whenever possible.
This is an opportunity for us to reconsider the surveillance and enforcement infrastructure that was created in the wake of 9/11. The original justification for these agencies has proven false, they haven't improved our safety or our lives as Americans, they cost us billions and make society worse.
I appreciate your continuing efforts to highlight data privacy issues and improve regulations - this is important work. We also need to entirely abolish agencies like ICE (and DHS as a whole) so that we're not constantly trying to plug loopholes with regulations they won't respect in any case.
Even if Bovino gets fired, ICE has to go.
Even if Noem is out, ICE has to go.
Even when Trump leaves office, ICE has to go.
As protests grow and ICE's popularity drops, we may see concessions and leadership changes, like Bovino's departure. ICE still has to go.

ok yeah you can tell that this is outside of my specialization, I'll defer to you on the correct business terminology
vast expertise and countless hours of work, theorems and formulas, endlessly trying to explain why something's "got da juice"
yep I was looking at your original post of this code and thinking "an hour" "a house" and immediately throwing up my hands in frustration

I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

abolish ice but also the entirety of DHS. They were founded in the xenophobia/kleptocracy patriot act spree of 2002 and never should have existed to begin with.
This is an opportunity to take a straightforward position that meets the moment and responds to a clear demand, not only from your Democratic constituents but from the public as a whole. Please show us your leadership by acknowledging the reality we're all looking at and offering a true alternative.
We can see clearly by their current actions what these agencies were created to do, and what they will continue to do. They aren't being twisted from some noble original purpose. We need to tear down these institutions entirely and build things that serve our nation's actual needs.
