Photo tax is the cross stitch project I’m working on to get me in the zone to work on my Capital Palette entry.

Ginga Hyoryū Vifam (銀河漂流バイファム, Ginga Hyōryū Baifamu; also known as Galactic Drifter Vifam or Round Vernian Vifam) is a 1983 Mecha anime television series produced by Sunrise, loosely based on Jules Verne's novel Deux ans de vacances (Two Years' Vacation), [1]|2]|3][4] It was officially drafted by Yoshiyuki Tomino, the creator of Mobile Suit Gundam and planned by both Takeyuki Kanda (who also serves as its director) and Hiroyuki Hoshiyama. It aired at both MBS and TBS from October 21, 1983, to September 8, 1984.

Finally found where the 2nd iteration of Jes Goodwin Terminators comes from, Vifam 銀河漂流バイファム wear-puppet power armor that gives a hunch backed appearance as the pilot's arms are in the chest area.

Mecha design by Kunio Ookawara and Mamoru Nagano of Gundam fame. Headed by Yoshiyuki Tomino.

Finally started working on my Nova Open Capital Palette stuff!

I might have posted about this mini a while ago but I found it at a secondhand shop in Akiba and it's just such a badass sculpt - white metal and resin from the early 00s.

Still a long way to go but feel good about the shape of things.

Last week I wrapped up two more minis for Roles For Initiative improv D&D show at Tokyo Comedy Bar.

To the left is tiefling cleric Tesla Cybertruck, & to the right is... an actual Cybertruck that served as a setpiece for May's event.

I lucked out majorly - it wasn't yet on sale when we visited the exhibition and I didn't realize that you could only do a preorder through the QR code they had displayed in the gift shop, but a friend visiting from Germany bought an extra copy when she went and I got it from her today.

Back blades / crests are a very cool look for Warhammer 40k's Dark Eldar Incubi and Age of Sigmar's Askurgan.

They're drawing from a martial arts fantasy theme, Buddhist statues often have carved mandorlas that way. There's also records of samurai armor having such bladed, antlered back crests

Catching up on posts but recently painted my ratling warpblaster - really tried to push myself to go for table ready but still looking good and I think I succeeded with a combination of OSL and lots of grimy washes.

The last movies to come even close were the Scary Movie series and even those had so much more mean-spirited punching down than Naked gun or Airplane. It’s a lost art.

Warhammer Store & Cafe Tokyo just announced new rules for the play tables and paint stations. A bit annoying but fair; honestly the fact that they're adding a reservation form is a win.

Still not confident in my skin tones on the human rogue... they look kinda there but I always get the sense that my color progression is missing something. Happy w/ the dragonborn chef though!

Round 2 will be on April 22 at 8PM EST, and for some reason they're teasing more 'news' related to this later this week, I assume related to the hotel block.

An absolute thrill to meet Borja Calvo Bertrán De Lis and see his Slayer Sword-winning piece at #Warhammer Cafe Tokyo.

He was incredibly generous and spent an hour talking shop with a few of us. Super inspiring and really left me eager to test myself at Golden Demon next year.

That I can't speak to, but it worked fine last year and they should have been able to figure out how to scale up for whatever crowd they were anticipating.

Even worse, now they'll have an even bigger user group trying to get in when registration restarts, just b/c more people will be aware.
