20 years of the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme #AFCS

- 127,414 claims
- 1/3 rejected
- 67% of most seriously harmed get much lower award than due
- 99.% of cases at appeal increased or maintained (only 55 / 11,035 reduced)

I've long argued the case that there are few means of verifying the delivery of services for the Armed Forces Community beyond private initiatives such as @veteranlawproject.bsky.social

If the Defence Committee are serious about reform of The Covenant there needs to be greater engagement.

We just received a lovely email:

“I am a UK veteran, due to start a GDL next year as part of plans to qualify as a barrister”. Great

“Are there any scholarships or patrons who can support a military veteran to assist with law degree costs?“ 🤷‍♂️

Was just thinking I should do a #FollowFriday for the great new criminal justice people I’ve added to this #StarterPack over the week… and then I realised it is Thursday

What a heart-wrenching set of stories:
- of those witnessing the tests,
- their families and children
- and local residents on the islands and in Australia

And such MOD/government cover-up and denial 😞
