The VE Day Wreath tour in Plymouth

Dr Bruce Toucher and The Veterans Charity VE Day wreath.

Yesterday, the Veterans Charity attended a Reserves Centre in Plymouth to listen to Dr Bruce Tocher present on the Op Freshman raid.

As the Freshman wreath is on its way to Norway 🇳🇴 we took the VE Day wreath to explain our work with the Routes of Remembrance.

85 years ago today the first patients arrived at the old Pembury Hospital from the beaches of Dunkirk.

By the end of the evacuation, the hospital had cared for 300 soldiers.

In a take on Churchill's famous speech, Medical Superintendent, Dr Grasby described it as “Pembury Hospital's finest hour.”

So thanks to BTP Insp Forbes, the poppy petals have now joined the seashell poppy wreath to honour the
Proud Sappers who had no known graves, as their bodies were disposed off in Norwegian fjords during WW2

The Op Freshman wreath originated from a member of The Veterans Charity contacts in Cornwall, so a wreath was created and sent via RAF St Mawgan to the Shetland Islands to join the Convoy.

However missing were some #RibbonofPoppies
petals to scatter on the fjords of Norway. 2/3

This is a reminder that the May Black Dog Walking Club 🚶‍♂️ 🚶‍♂️ 🐕 meets up this Sunday.

We meet in the car park of The Rockpool Bar car park at Gwithian, Nr Hayle, Cornwall at 0930hrs.

A Royal Navy MAN lorry and a Merlin Helicopter taking part in the delivery of a Routes of Remembrance wreath by The Veterans Charity, supported by RNAS Culdrose.

The Veterans Charity - Routes of Remembrance #VEDay wreath has landed in Cornwall!

It will be used to help educate and visit sites key to victory in 1945.

There will be a #VJDay wreath joining in August.
