Hello and welcome to my profile! I'm an aspiring author, based in the UK. I dabble in a number of artistic fields, so expect to see some (bad) art from me as well! I hope you enjoy! ^_^
I just read The Hellbound Heart. Definitely a good Halloween read! #booksky
24.10.2025 10:52 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0One of the hardest parts about preparing a query letter is the conflicting advice from online guides. For example, do you mention other novels you've written or will this make the agent wonder why you haven't been published? It entirely depends on who you ask!

Because I use YouTube both as a writing playlist and for casually listening to music, the algorithm tends to get confused. Will it recommend the Made in Abyss OST, something Celtic inspired, or the Epic of Gilgamesh sung in its original Sumarian? I don't know and wouldn't have it any other way!
08.08.2025 10:49 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Wow! Thanks, Oli! Now I'd better start posting more work! ^_^
08.08.2025 10:42 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Well, thanks to the Online Safety Act, I now have to give my government ID and personal information to a non-GDPR protected US company in order to access my chat log. Thanks UK government. I'm willing to bet money that the only people who will benefit from this legislation are identity thieves...
07.08.2025 21:33 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0A lot of people are saying #OzzyOsbourne's dead. This is a misconception; the Prince of Darkness doesn't die, he just returns to his Kingdom.
22.07.2025 20:02 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Edit? Publish? Why would I do that when I can keep writing. That's much easier!
13.07.2025 22:25 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Me: I should post art on here alongside my writing.
Also Me: But I'm a hobby artist and not very good. Besides, I'm a sci-fi/fantasy writer, specialising in folk tales! I should focus on my audience.
Me: Yeah, but there could be cross over appeal, especially if it's fantasy related.
Also Me: ...
I dunno... I have a paperback copy of Udolpho. That would hurt quite a bit!
05.07.2025 19:45 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I've often said that receiving a critique is as much an art as giving one. Not only should you receive it gracefully, you then have to decide how to apply it.

05.07.2025 19:32 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Have... have you been spying on me!? ๐
05.07.2025 19:31 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Me: I'm too tired to work tonight.

It's been far too hot this week! The UK simply isn't built for 30 degree weather. >_<
01.07.2025 17:03 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Since joining #Bluesky, I keep stumbling over accounts that post nothing but #politics. I totally get wanting to raise awareness of important issues, but spamming nothing but bad news day in and day out, multiple times a day can't be good for you...
28.06.2025 14:37 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Whenever I see a book that people have tried to ban, I feel a stong and sudden urge to have it on my shelf!

โWhen I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishnessโฆโ

Many writing/publishing scams, especially those from overseas, follow the pig butchering model, with victims bamboozled into spending ever-larger amounts of money on more and more overpriced or fraudulent services and products
25.06.2025 17:47 โ ๐ 66 ๐ 41 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 3Indeed! I've now had three attempt to contact me, offering to sell my book. It's sadly very common and, while it may seem obvious, takes advantage of good natured people.
25.06.2025 18:54 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I really wish all of these 'Totally Legitimate Book Marketers' would actually try with their scams.
'Dear Author, I came across your book on Amazon and thought it was incredible'.
Wow! That's amazing! I haven't even published anything on Amazon yet! You're really good!
PS: Nice free Wix site.
Curse my day job! Best of luck to you and anyone who can go! ^_^
22.06.2025 10:42 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This is the best reaction one can have to it. A shame it has to be every day... ^_^;
22.06.2025 10:40 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0A very happy #SummerSolstice (Litha) to all of my followers! ^_^

Fair! But there's a ton of sci-fi that doesn't deal with space travel or aliens. H.G. Wells, Jules Verne, and Mary Shelley rarely used either. ^_^
18.06.2025 18:33 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Arthur C. Clarke's 3 laws are absolutely on point here! In addition to magic and advanced technology being indistinguishable, they state that if a scientist says something is impossible, they're probably wrong and that the only way to explore the possible is to delve into the impossible. ^_^
18.06.2025 18:28 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Riddle me this, #booksky: is there, in 2025, truly a difference between #sci-fi and #fantasy? We all know there's a ton of cross over - #book shops even sell them in the same section - but at the same time both genres can be quite different. What are your thoughts?
17.06.2025 21:21 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 1It is a testament to #BritishPessimism that, even though we've had one of the dryest springs on record and are in danger of going into drought, we are STILL complaining about the #rain. ^_^;
