A generous donation by The Peggy Wood Foundation is already making a difference to cancer patients.
The Foundation gave £93,000 to our MTW Hospitals Charity to purchase five double scalp coolers, giving more people the option to reduce chemotherapy-related hair loss during treatment.
Last week we welcomed local schools to our Academic Centre at Maidstone Hospital for a careers day.
Pupils had the chance to find out about different NHS roles, and take part in immersive simulation rooms, practicing taking pulses, using stethoscopes and learning about resuscitation using manikins.

This week we held a special Christmas lunch at Maidstone Hospital to thank them for their support.

The judging panel praised staff for their focus on enhancing quality of life and their willingness to listen and respond to patients’ needs.

When applying for her role, Nicole’s staff health passport outlined the support she might need to help her work safely & effectively.

Switching to reusable items could save 2 tonnes of CO₂e a year, equivalent to removing a car from the road.

🎅🎁 Santa took time out of his busy schedule today to wish a happy Christmas to patients on Hedgehog Ward at Tunbridge Wells Hospital!
Thanks to @cisco.com’s Connected Santa project, they enjoyed a live virtual call with Santa from the North Pole, and his team of elves handed out gifts.
A state-of-the-art linear accelerator at Kent & Canterbury Hospital has delivered its first treatment a month ahead of schedule!
It brings faster and more precise treatment, and improved efficiency, helping the team continue to offer some of the fastest access to cancer treatment in the country.
Thank you to the Maidstone Hospital League of Friends for a generous donation to purchase equipment for Ophthalmology to help the team diagnose and manage eye conditions.
The MS-39 is the most advanced technology available for analysis of the front part of the eye: the cornea, iris and lens.
Lucy said: “When we humanise care, we elevate it. We cannot change the fact that critical illness is traumatic but we can change the way it is experienced.
"We can make it more compassionate, more connected, and more healing for patients and families.”
Well done to Lucy Gosnell, Senior Sister in ICU at Tunbridge Wells Hospital, who presented at @baccnuk.bsky.social conference on leading the unit to become the 1st in the UK to gain HU-CI accreditation, recognising the team's focus on supporting the wellbeing and rehabilitation of ICU patients.

Funds raised support the purchase of a vein finder for our Medical Infusion Suite, making treatments easier, faster and as pain-free as possible.
The first conference for nursing, midwifery & allied health professional educators in the region was held at Maidstone Hospital last week.
It gave attendees the chance to reflect on their roles as educators with topics including clinical supervision, T-levels, preceptorship & post-registration.

The West Kent Community Diagnostic Centre featured on ITV Meridian News last week.
The centre has delivered 230,000+ tests since opening, helping shorten waiting times, reduce pressure on hospitals and transform care for patients.
