The proposed cruise ship port in Manatee County is a terrible idea and is getting a lot of deserved pushback. IMO one thing lacking in coverage is imagery showing the scale of dredging and habitat destruction required to dock 1,000 foot long ships in this aquatic sanctuary. Here's a few.

By weakening the vessel speed rules there will be more vessel strikes, more whales will be killed, like the MSC Meraviglia cruise ship vessel strike in May 2024 when it arrived in New York with a dead sei whale on its bow.
