nothing brings us together like attacks on former lemon press editors (royalty, sacrosanct, can only be judged by the lord God himself)
my big opinion is that the days of x86 are numbered, as is CISC architecture generally. Arm is the future baby, my M4 macbook air is genuinely unbelievable for a laptop (at the price point it’s at).
Im gonna try bazzite on my xbox ally x at some point for the vibes, but every set of benchmarkings I see show it to be worse than Windows in real world performance, with no SB or IDOMMU compatibility which means I couldn’t play my competitive shooters of choice. Want to move but can’t :(
I hate the direction windows is going in currently, but for my daily workflow (sharepoint, 365, light php website maintenance) i’ve found MacOS (M4 air) smoothest, followed by windows. I tried Mint and abandoned it as impractical after a day and have no desire to reenter that fight yet
not to be a microslop defender but is this because of faulty fan curve management software (assuming the uefi of your work laptop doesn’t allow pre-boot fan curve management?). This could also be MS’s ofc, for having shitty driver management

and to finish off, before I go back to lurking, on a personal note: my grandfather had some, erm, interesting tattoos from his naval era (pro-colonialist imagery, British imagery). He was also the first, active, LGBTQ+ ally I knew and explicitly compassionate. People contain multitudes.
This isn’t a novel view, and lots of former/current mutuals share it, and have been called slurs (on both sites) for having shared it. If I was forced to separate between the two, I would say (in terms of pragmatic virtues), I see vastly more direct action from leftists over on ex-Twitter than here.
both here and ex-Twitter are getting unscrollable now, either via sheer horror (ex-Twitter) or pervasive, smug moralism (here), both of which I find deeply ingratiating to experience. Both are differently horrible, but ultimately both sufficient conditions for Not Having Fun Online
people calling planter a nazi are, from all the things I’ve seen, obviously and astonishingly off-base, to the point of causing actual harm in misappropriating a needed and powerful word; one that I broadly thinks *more* active usage in plenty of contexts!
i’m trying to come on here more because twitter is obviously a car crash algorithmically but unfortunately have to see stuff like this being ratio’d into oblivion, despite being a so-so take, because the userbase of this site seemingly cannot hold comprehend nuance.
working on stuff
tbh I don't think even that will happen, but I do think it's stupid to vote on rules the lawfulness of which is debated *whilst a tribunal is about to rule if they are*. vote 3 weeks later, after the extended judgment, and there's no dramas
I mean it kinda isn't because an independent tribunal will decide on this stuff. if you're gonna read anything about the PL Vs City's legal advice etc I'd mention that this has already been to court once, and city won enough to mean there was a new vote today lmao
I am the 11%, the last bastion of the truly free and smart thinkers
very annoying this has become some sort of proxy war in English football when city mainly suggested voting against on the basis that "more judgment is coming soon we should just wait" lmao. my entire timeline losing their minds that "we've lost" when it's a basically nothing.
luv trains luv cans 'ate viva prep simple
it did in lots of ways but again has reconfirmed that my ideas remain outside the orthodoxy and will need rigorous defence at my actual viva! they hated jesus' message etc. etc.
that sorta philosophy is very distinctive from the philosophy I do. had my mock viva today and I got a question that was basically asking how I defend adopting your position here in my thesis (which I kinda do) but applying it to physics/phil-sci lmao. philosophers hate me because I hate them.
have a pint and punch a dickhead today in honour of the greatest DPM we'll ever have. rest in peace big John.
the reason I dislike ethics/moral philosophy is it does tend to end up at a "I'm right because I know I'm right" position which is boring, but there is plenty of work done that's exceedingly analytic (more so than economics sometimes I'd venture) and testable, if you know where to look.
not to get all too defensive of philosophy here but the term "philosophy" tends to invoke ideas in the mind that don't match up with, for example, what I do. My thesis is grounded first and foremost in empiricist, pragmatic understandings.
urgh I want it so bad
