Informative piece by @mikemadrid.bsky.social on “the Spaniard who saved America,” Bernardo de Gálvez. Gálvez led the Spanish forces that defeated British to keep the Louisiana Territory - including the Mississippi River - which ultimately became part of the U.S.

Also noteworthy, by the way, that Hispanic Catholics are a very Democratic group. Far more Democratic in their identifications than either white Catholics or Hispanic Protestants. They are very committed to social justice.
