I am cursed with the ability to see both sides of an argument. Interests in maths, science, art and nature. Not necessarily in that order.
Stephen King's "Pet Semetary"

19.09.2025 22:05 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I always wondered what the point of them roaring at their prey was, as shown in the recent series of Walking With Dinosaurs. Did they hope to convince their prey to give up without a fight? Or an artistic choice made by the director?

Finally someone is prepared to critically analyse the "65,000 years of occupation" narrative beloved of activists and politicians. Taking into account the time it takes to get to Australia it is probably more like 45,000 years ago. Consistent with the Mungo Man evidence.
04.07.2025 01:05 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0And you are making assumptions about what a non male-centred society would look like based on our current one.
03.07.2025 07:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Devils (and Thylacines aka Tasmanian Tigers) went extinct on the Australian mainland with the introduction of the Dingo ~3.5ka BP. They only survived in Tasmania because the land bridge to the mainland disappeared about 10ka BP, so Dingoes never reached there.
28.06.2025 22:35 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It is also possible these women were only valued for their fertility and child rearing activities, and nothing more. It doesn't mean they had more agency, power or were treated better by their husbands.
28.06.2025 21:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Can you update this with recent discoveries from DNA that push their arrival till 45k or later? Interesting as Mungo Man fits in that range. Claims that Aboriginal people weren't responsible for megafauna extinctions is partly based on the claim they didn't happen till 20k years after their arrival.

12.04.2025 02:15 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Leon was an American citizen by birth. Was he Jewish? Why had to traveled to live in Europe? He survived in Auschwitz for 6 months, how did he do that? Did they release him, well before liberation, because he was an American? Did he go back to the USA straight away, or later?

12.02.2025 00:58 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Most new tech just imitates something that already exists. Think horseless carriages, movies that were filmed plays, tv that was filmed vaudeville. Eventually creative people use them in new and unforeseen ways. VR and AI will be the same.

Apparently it #superbowl Sunday. What could be more superb than the oldest representation of one we know of from Chauvet Cave, France?
This long eared Owl was drawn by fingers scraped through the wet sediment on the cave wall 32,000 years ago.
