One of my mentors gave me the same advice when I just started out. Log every single thing you do, and save receipts! Compliments, thank-you notes, press mentions, any stats or proof of project success. Even rejections, to prove you tried.

Curbing Antibiotic Resistance Through Off-Target Antibiotic Removal To address the growing antimicrobial resistance problem, scientists have been searching nature in attempts to find new classes of antibiotics, optimizing existing ones, or designing new antimicrobi…

Antibiotics that make their way into other places beyond infection sites can drive #AntimicrobialResistance. In my new article for #TheMicrobialMenagerie, I dive into how eliminating these "off target" antibiotics can help reduce #AntimicrobialResistance.

Let’s compare the M8.8 earthquake in Russia to the M3.0 earthquake in New Jersey.

The M8.8 was 631,000 times bigger and 500,000,000 times stronger.

Senate budget bill includes small increase for the health-research agency β€” but faces a long road before being signed into law.

β€œTo the scientists wondering if there will even be an NIH by the end of this administration, this committee’s resounding message is: β€˜Yes, Congress has your back’,” said @murray.senate.gov

We’re not near the finish line yet - but this is a strong step in the right direction.

Trump, Claiming Weak Jobs Numbers Were β€˜Rigged,’ Fires Labor Official

For months, people have been asking me whether I still trusted gov’t data. My answer was always the same: The stats agencies faced longstanding challenges, some of which Trump was making worse. But there was no sign of political meddling.
I can’t say that anymore.

Major cities as well will be affected. Greater Boston, for instance, has about 75K international students, ~1.5% of pop. They are on average wealthier & spend more discretionary income than U.S. citizen students. That's a big subsidiary economic hit right there.

It's important to note here that we're not just talking about faculty & university staff. 100s of U.S. colleges are in towns or small cities where they form the major industry & lifeblood of the community. Loss of students -> loss of rent $, restaurant $, bars, bookstores, gaming stores...

Sabiha Kasimati (1912-1951) was a professor of biology and ichthyologist, one of the earliest known women scientists in Albania.
She was arrested by the communist regime in 1951, and a few days later was executed without trial along with 21 other intellectuals.

At the time, I felt a little guilty (though I really did write about different aspects each year). But these days it feels like this should actually have been required of everyone
