It sounds like the voice of folk music that’s full of memory and melancholy…

I saw Eternity the other night
Like a great ring of pure and endless light,
All calm, as it was bright…
I’ll check out “Elizabeth Cree” —thank you. Definitely outside my comfort zone, so appreciate any suggestions!

Nite, peeps. Extremely preoccupied, but hoping sleep will eventually win.

I agree on both—and as much as I love the drama of a full orchestra, there’s something about a solo recital with someone of his caliber that is so compelling.

The Largo at 18:04-ish is exquisite, and then melts right into the last movement’s polonaise. Like,
🙋🏻♀️ Beethoven: “Let’s Largo, chill, and meditate on existence...”
💁🏻♀️ Also Beethoven: “…in a foot-tripping triple meter.”

Sanity break from scrolling: a Beethoven triple concerto that sounds like spring, with piano, violin, cello taking turns in the sunlight.
Concerto for piano, violin, cello, orchestra. C major, op.56

Suuuuuuure you are 😘😆!
(Gourmet grocery by me has frozen quail…may need to get ‘em, bake ‘em, make a little cranberry glaze, and salt ‘em with my Scrabble tears next time you’re here)
(My ancestors are covering their eyes at my shame and are muttering from the afterlife, “Must’ve switched ‘er at birth…she ain’t one of ours!”) 😁

Well, only the weak need sleep…?
🤔 Excellent point!
Right?! Nothing like making the rest of us feel like underachievers…😆 Seriously, tho, it is like doing a musical ultramarathon.

I was curious about those two pieces (Guo, Puts) since I’m much more conversant in music whose century starts with “17th” or “18th” vs “21st”, y’know? I don’t know that I’ve ever heard anything by Puts 🤔
So, um, this might be good for me then…
Oh, you guys are going to talk me into the concerto program, arent’cha?!
09.03.2026 18:21 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0That would would be a showstopper, I’m guessing! Probably be a great caffeine replacement (I love that piece…😁)

Go for ALL the cannoli?!?!?!
Sooo tempted. Concerto program is a Bthoven sandwich, basically. 🤔
• Bthoven Consecration of the House Overture
• Jasmine Guo , sound of where i came from(SLSO Co-commission)
• Kevin Puts, Concerto for Orchestra
• Bthoven Piano Concerto No. 5, “Emperor”
Fine. I got a ticket to the recital—but please talk me out of the concerto program on the weekend because that’s the musical equivalent of stopping in for a cannoli and leaving as part owner of an entire bakery.

John Singer Sargent (1856-1925) was fascinated with the delicate light quality at twilight and captured it in his painting "Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose” of 1885-86 (Tate Britain).
